Reducing our impact.

The clothing industry is among the most polluting industries in the world, where production is the major challenge. Our goal is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions - our footprint - by at least 30% by 2030. By 2045, we will be completely climate neutral.

These are ambitious goals that we need to break down into different sub-goals. The most important thing we can do - as part of the clothing industry - is to produce fewer garments by reducing our overproduction. We believe that we can contribute to healthier consumption by adapting our range to reduce our seasonal production - and thus our emissions. Our goal is therefore to halve the amount of sales by 2020 already.

We introduce zero tolerance for the number of air transport from 2020, which means that all our garments must be transported by boat and in exceptional cases by train. And we also want to reduce the number of business trips by air - by 50% in 2020.

We also want to reduce the actual use of resources in production by primarily developing products based on more resource efficient production processes. We focus primarily on our functional outer garments within the PO.P WeatherPRO® concept, as it is a large and important product group for us. From autumn 2021, we will have 100% traceability for water, energy and chemical consumption for all garments in this group. And by 2025, we should have reduced the use of water, energy and chemicals by 30-75% depending on the area.

We not only consume energy in our production processes but also in our other operations, e.g. in our stores. Today, 98% of electricity consumption in our own stores is renewable. There we set the goal of having 100% renewable electricity in 2020 and to reduce electricity consumption by 30% by 2021.

In 2017, we started paying for our shopping bags and donating the surplus for charitable purposes. More and more customers have chosen not to buy a bag and today the number of bags has decreased by 75% compared to 2017. During 2020 we will completely phase out plastic bags from our stores and replace them with paper bags in recycled material. The goal is to replace our e-commerce bags in 2020 that are still in recycled plastic. With these measures we want to be able to both reduce our climate footprint and contribute to less plastic in nature.

The goals linked to reduced resource use and greenhouse gas emissions are challenging and we will both follow them up and continuously communicate how our development and goal fulfillment looks.
