This recipe makes 30-40 little meatballs, about the size of a large sprout.


You need:

  • 250g minced beef
  • 250g minced pork
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ½ tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 60ml toasted breadcrumbs
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 2 boiled potatoes mashed up
  • Salt and pepper
  • For the sauce:
  • 100ml cream
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • Soy sauce

Fry the onion until golden in 2 tbsp butter and cool

Add the all the ingredients to a bowl and mush together

Season with salt and pepper

Using two teaspoons rinsed in water, or your hands, shape the meatballs into small balls and transfer to a floured chopping board, then fry quite slowly in plenty of butter until cooked through

Keep warm in the oven while you make the sauce in the same pan using the flavours from the meatballs


Sauce serves 4:

Add the cream and half the stock to frying pan and heat until bubbling

Add flour to thicken

Add soy sauce and season to taste

Serve the meatballs with the sauce and freshly boiled potatoes, a green salad or veg and if you are feeling super Swedish lingonberry sauce or gherkins
